Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Art on Tap class like?
Art on Tap provides a space where people can come together to socialize, relax and create art in a welcoming, friendly and fun environment. All classes are taught by a trained and experienced art instructor. Classes will follow a two and a half to three hour format, with a few short breaks. The instructor will walk the class through a painting step-by-step, from blank canvas to ready-to-hang art. The emphasis of each class is to encourage a social and lively atmosphere while at the same time providing a meaningful art experience.
Do I need to have prior art experience?
NO! Art on Tap is for EVERYONE, from the novice to the artist. If you have traditionally been reticent or anxious about giving artistic exploration a try, we will put you at ease. We are here to have a good time.
How do I register for a class?
No, but it is suggested you do as some classes do sell out. Visit the Events and Reservations page on our website. Find the painting class you want to attend and complete the RSVP form.
We also accept walk in participation as long as we have room in the class.
How much is a class?
Classes range between $30-$40 (a few are a bit higher, depending on the venue and kids' classes are less). Class fee includes everything you need to create a ready-to-hang painting, instruction and a beverage! We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards.
Do I need to bring anything?
All you need to bring is yourself! We provide everything: paint, canvas, an easel, brushes and an apron. Come to the venue a few minutes early so you can grab a drink. All of our locations have a great selection on wine, beer and other beverages, and many have food.
How should I get my painting home?
Be sure to travel with your painting face up. By the time you get it home, it should be dry and ready to showcase. If you are planning a night out after class, you are welcome to leave your painting with us and arrange to pick it up later. If you want your painting shipped to you, we ask that you provide postage and your address and we are happy to send it.
Must I paint the featured painting?
That is always up to you and your own level of comfort. An instructor will be there to lead you through the featured painting, but you are also welcome to make it your own. You can do this by using alternate colors, by adding details or you can even use the time (and our supplies) to create your own masterpiece.
Are children allowed in an Art on Tap class?
Yes, however they must be accompanied by an adult. All of our venues are kid friendly--although most do serve alcohol. It is important to consider if the child will be able to sit through a three hour session--we recommend they are at least 8 years old, but you know your kid best and if they would enjoy this experience or be bored.
We also offer kid friendly/parent-kid classes. These classes are shortened and designed to be a time to spend with your child. Younger children are welcome at these events. Check our calendar for these special events.
Our Creative Juices Private Parties are another option. These are private parties you host specifically for children and are always a LOT of fun and you can work with us to customize it just for your kiddo.
Do I need to sign up in advance?
No, as long as we have room, walk-ins are welcome. However, some of our locations have limited seating so signing up in advance is recommended. You can register on the website by going to Events and Reservations or give us a call. If a class is sold out, we can always put you on our waiting list. Due to last minute cancellations, we can usually get you in!
What do I wear?
We provide aprons, but we recommend wearing something you wouldn't mind getting paint on, just in case. We use acrylic paint, which is water soluble, but can stain. Art on Tap is not responsible for damaged articles of clothing.
Can I bring in food?
That depends on the venue. Many of our locations have wonderful menus--we highly recommend rounding your evening out by coming early or staying late for a meal. See Our Host Bars and Restaurants for links to menus.
If you are unsure about weather or not the venue you are attending offers food, just send us an email or give us a call and we can advice you!
What time do I need to arrive for a class?
We recommend coming a few minutes early to get registered, grab a glass of wine and get the seat of your choice.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because of our waiting lists, we ask you to give us 24-48 hours notice if you need to cancel. Cancellations should be made online or by phone. This provides us the opportunity to fill the space and helps us run our events more smoothly and keeps our prices to a minimum.
